How do we describe mental health? What does it mean?
Does it apply to everyone?
These are the questions I ask myself as I write about this topic.
Mental Health applies to everyone. Our mental health is like our physical health. If we don't take care of both, there is a good chance that we will see the negative effects that occurs. Taking care of our mental health and physical health requires daily activities in order for us to live a healthy lifestyle.
Taking time out to care for your mental health and wellness is vitally important to help you function daily.
Be aware of your environment and who you connect with on a daily basis. If your environment is toxic, it will affect you directly or indirectly.
As you continue on your mental health and wellness journey, you may find that you have to make certain changes in your life to limit toxic relationships. Try as much as you can, to keep your space limited to anything that is unhealthy.
If possible, love from a distance. Always forgive for your peace of mind and to avoid bitterness.

How we take care of our mental health is important. Recognising what affects us, how it affects us and what we can do about it.
What solutions do we have to take care of our mental health? Well there are a few things we can do to start off with.
The first one that comes to mind is talking therapy. Counselling or Therapy with a Counsellor or Psychotherapist.
Now I'm aware this is not for everyone. Some people may frown at the idea of sitting in a room talking to a stranger about deep feelings and emotions.
Yes, I understand this may not be for everyone, but for those who have had "successful" therapy may have a different take on the idea of talking to someone.
Let's face it, sometimes our loved ones may get tired of hearing the same issue or problem. Or maybe they may not understand or be empathic about that particular situation.
Sometimes that individual may have so much going in their own lives, they may not have the mental capacity to listen or take on someone else's burden.
This is when talking therapy can be useful.
I just wanted to add, there are several types of therapies now. The latest one I've heard of is games therapy.
Sometimes and for some people talking therapy may not be enough. Taking care of our mental health often means including a variety of different things. Physical exercises is vitally important. Our bodies need movement. This means our bodies need to move in order to function properly.
For example, if you think about a baby, a new born moves their arms and legs. As they get older, they crawl or maybe walk without crawling.
The point is, there is movement. When we exercise, our bodies produce endorphins - the happy hormone.
There are several types of therapies.
I will mention just a few therapies, some are newly introduced therapies:
Art Therapy
Music Therapy
Drama Therapy
Walking Therapy
Games Therapy
Nature Therapy
The field of therapy has grown rapidly over the years to meet the needs of many.
Complimentary & Alternative Therapies
There are alternatives therapies to talking therapy.
Acupuncture
Aromatherapy
Mindfulness
Herbal Remedies
Meditation
Vitamins & Supplements
Spiritual Healing
Reflexology
Alternative Medical Systems
Homeopathy
Coaching is another alternative to therapy.
If therapy is not something you desire to do, that's okay. Sometimes a few sessions of coaching can help you to get unstuck. Coaching applies to several areas.
What is coaching?
Well coaching is...
Action taken to develop skills and abilities to achieve a goal(s). This is done using tools and techniques to help make and maintain changes.
Coaching involves a 100% commitment with the use of strategies to enable change and development.
There are several different alternatives. There is something for everyone. You choose which is suitable for you.
The main thing is making sure that you take care of your mental health.
Someone, some where cared enough about you to make sure these are available.
